A Radical Decision!

I have come to what some might consider a radical decision! As you may know, I have so many blogs right now that it's sometimes hard to keep track of what's going on and where. So, I am bringing all my current blogs to a halt. I'm not deleting them. But, I am folding them as of today. In their place, I have set up a new blog titled Nick Redfern's Fortean World. Yeah, I know: it's hardly the most original or imaginative title, but it is accurate and to the point! So, from now on, while all my existing blogs will remain archived, here's the address for the new blog, Nick Redfern's Fortean World. As you'll see, the design and style has not been completed yet, and there's no content yet either. But, bear with me, and over the next few days you'll see it start to develop its life and character!

MAJIC EYES ONLY: UFOs & Strange Deaths

Within the world of Ufological science-fiction, story-lines of people being killed, assassinated, or dying under mysterious circumstances - when specifically seeking the truth about UFOs - abound.

Indeed, one only has to look at TV shows like The X-Files, The Invaders, Fringe, and Dark Skies to see that such on-screen scenarios absolutely abound.

But, what of the real world?

Have UFO researchers, journalists, military personnel, and government officials actually been murdered to hide the truth about UFOs?

Some say: "Yes!"

One of those who has commented deeply on such issues is Ryan S. Wood, the respected author of the book MAJIC EYES ONLY: Earth's Encounters with Extraterrestrial Technology. Wood cites the curious and controversial circumstances surrounding the death of 1950s/1960s journalist and TV personality Dorothy Kilgallen - well-known for her comments on crashed UFOs and her deep quest to seek out the truth concerning the November 22, 1963 assassination of President John F. As the story goes, a UFO reportedly exploded in the sky, raining debris down upon the harbor - and on those unfortunate to be aboard a nearby boat, too, injuring a child and killing a dog.

But that was not all. n the immediate wake of the event, two military personnel who were engaged in transporting a selection of the debris for official study died when their aircraft mysteriously exploded en-route to its final destination. The strange material, unsurprisingly, vanished. Sabotage and cold-blooded murder? Many believe so...

And this is just the tip of a very large and disturbing interstellar iceberg.

NASA, McKinnon & More

Issue 4 of UFO MATRIX magazine includes an article from Richard Thomas titled "Is There A Secret Space Program?" and which, in part, focuses on NASA; the British computer-hacker, Gary McKinnon; H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds; Orson Welles' radio-version of Wells' classic science-fiction novel; and much more that revolves around the often-connected worlds of secrecy and science-fiction.

Here's an extract from the article:

"McKinnon’s suggestion that NASA and its 2004 'vision' to return to the Moon by 2020 (over 50 years after the Apollo 11 landing!) could just be a cover for a much more advanced and deeply clandestine or 'black' space program might sound like just another conspiracy theory but McKinnon isn’t the first to advocate such a hypotheses. The concept of a secret space program first gaining some prominence in 1977 when the UK’s Anglia Television (now ITV Anglia) broadcast the now infamous Orson Welles War of the Worlds-style hoax documentary: Alternative 3. The plot, of which, revolved around a global conspiracy to resettle missing scientists onto the Moon and Mars in preparation for an imminent environmental cataclysm."

Or was it actually just a novel? Rather, could it have been inspired by a darker truth to which Newman was secretly made privy by official sources...?

Science Fiction Secrets at MUFON

On Tuesday night, I gave an illustrated lecture on my Science Fiction Secrets book to the San Antonio, Texas-based chapter of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). I spoke for about an hour or so (on such issues as the Reagan-Spielberg-E.T. controversy; the strange story of Mikel Conrad and his film The Flying Saucer; the FBI's file on Philip K. Dick; Stalin's Ape-Men; and much more); after which there followed a lively question-and-answer session that ran for about 45-minutes.

The SA MUFON group is comprised of a good bunch of people, and they have some interesting speakers at their monthly meetings. And it was very good to see legendary MUFON figure Walt Andrus in attendance, too.
